It seems Singaporeans are getting more comfortable chatting to complete strangers—and we couldn’t be more thrilled. The local edition of Denmark-originated Human Library, a mobile human-loaning library, is back for its third run in just six months. This time, on Aug 27, it’s happening at a CC near you (or not): Taman Jurong Community Club.
If this is your first time hearing of Human Library, don’t be too alarmed; the concept is simply meant as a platform for people from different backgrounds and experiences to come together, share stories and answer questions. The books, then, are real people with experiences many Singaporeans might not otherwise have had the chance to come across. While previous editions have seen books like former sex workers and single mothers, this edition’s catalogue includes a wildlife rescuer, suicide attempt survivors, and a person on an infertility journey.
To take part, just register online, pick a time slot and reserve the friendly Books you’d like to loan—and interact with. Priority booking for those on the mailing list just opened today, and you can reserve a maximum of five Books.
