Every month, we search the web to pull together a list of interesting markets to check out throughout the month. But one of the coolest arts and design markets around, Open Deck – Annual Fundraising Fair puts prominent local labels and individuals on their list. This annual fundraising cum artsy gathering returns on May 27-28 with a series of local book stores, apparel brands and individual artists. Expect everything from photographic prints to artsy collectibles.
Well-known names include champion of local literary arts BooksActually, Basheer Graphic Books, local online boutique The Lorem Ipsum Store that’s known for creating statement accessories, and Holycrap.sg, an art collective made up of a husband and wife duo and their two children. Local artists like PuffingMuffin, who has worked with major brands like Uniqlo and Swatch, will also be on site to showcase her dreamy creature character drawings, as well as illustrator Ohirrelephant who makes some cute oddly-shaped cushions with a face. The market is curated by founder of K+ Gallery and designer Pann Lim, founder of BooksActually Kenny Leck and director and co-founder of Deck, Gwen Lee.
Also on board and will be performing are electronic outfit Intriguant and Nada, a duo who’s known for mixing traditional Malay songs with modern music. Enjoy all of these alongside satays, craft beers and other food.
