You can now relive the experience of singing along to Mew’s “Comforting Sounds” (as well as other soul-reaching tracks like “Carry Me To Safety” and “Nothingness and No Regrets” from their latest album) when they return to perform in an intimate space at the School of The Arts (SOTA) on Sep 3.
It isn’t their first rodeo in Singapore—Mew first made their debut in 2013 as Camp Symmetry’s headlining act, alongside an incredible line-up of artists like Australian indie pop band San Cisco, American indie rock band Ra Ra Riot and the summer-dreamin’ duo Best Coast, and then had their own show in 2015 at *Scape The Ground Theatre. Symmetry Entertainment is bringing them in once again, this time to perform at the SOTA Concert Hall—which can only hold 630 people at any one time—to showcase and promote their latest release, Visuals.
Known for their progressively blissful tracks and their accompanying visual projections during live shows, Mew took a different approach when producing their current album. Frontman Jonas Bjerre usually works on them after finishing an album but for this seventh record they’ve decided to do it the other way to see how the images in his head can form the music. They’re also infamous for “hiding away in a cave” for a couple of years to record the next album, but for Visuals, they had such an influx of energy and creativity from touring for the +- album that they wrote a couple of demos while on the road.
If you missed out on their 2013 and 2015 performances, you’ll want to mark your calendars because the gig’s bound to be sold out once the tickets are on sale. Tickets are priced from $35-88 (there’s also a limited number of Meet & Greet passes worth $35) and are now available via Ticketbox.
