Enjoy $10 bowls of ramen at Singapore’s very first ramen festival

If you’ve ever had strange, but enjoyable, dreams of drowning yourself in bowls of ramen, now is your chance to actualize them. Ramen Revolution 2017, Singapore’s very first large-scale outdoor ramen event, is taking place this weekend, and promises to be every bit as epic as it sounds.

The event is a three-day affair inspired by Japanese ramen show culture. In Japan, the annual Tokyo Ramen Show is one of the city’s most anticipated food events, bringing together up to 36 different types of ramen from various prefectures around the country. For Ramen Revolution, the variety available is far from being on par, but no less exciting. The event will feature eight well-known ramen brands from both Singapore and Japan, including the highly raved about Menya Masamune from Sendai, whose Premium Shio Ramen has won two ramen championships in New York City. Adding to the mix are two drink stalls, for when you tire of steaming ramen broth. (How even, though?)

Tasting aside, audience members can also take part in activities like speed eating competitions and the now classic spicy ramen challenge. Keep a lookout for famed competitive eater from Japan, Shirota “The Giant” Nobuyuki—though at 1.96m he’ll be hard to miss.

And finally, the reason this event piqued your interest in the first place—all the ramen will be priced at $10 nett, cash only, so your wallet won’t be too empty as your stomach fills up. It’s your chance to break out of your destructive Ippudo cycle, even if just for three days.
