12 things to see, do, eat and drink in Singapore this weekend (Nov 21-22)

Another packed week in Singapore, this time with a string of outdoor parties, a mass picnic, some big-deal stage productions and lots of beer.

 

Sat, Nov 21

FILM
Arcade Fire fans, catch the Singapore premier of Kalil Joseph’s intimate, impressionistic and dance-in-your-chair fun documentary Arcade Fire: The Reflektor Tapes, about the making of the indie band’s most critically acclaimed album.

SHOPPING
Pick up pre-loved and environmentally conscious gifts for Christmas at this edition of the Great Singapore Garage Sale, this time in Tampines.

DRINK
Singapore’s newest microbrewery has been open for a while, but it’s only this weekend that they inaugurate their house-brewed craft beers. Don’t miss the Changi Break Out Party where pints are $4 from 4-5pm and $8 after that.

EAT
The chi chi Diner en Blanc returns at yet another secret location. Remember to wear white and combat stares from curious onlookers at this fancy evening picnic.

MUSIC
The Skechers Sundown Festival is all about regional talent with indie acts like Potato from Thailand, local band Caracal and Epik High from Korea. 

OUTING
It’s that time of the year again, when Night Safari transforms into Mystica, with surreal light displays, performances and nocturnal animal exhibits.

STAGE
It’s your last chance to catch the international premier of theater god Peter Brook’s follow-up to his staging of the Mahabharata. Battlefield premiered in Paris in September and parses out the final scene in the epic.

SHOPPING
Socially conscious jewelry collective Design Up Asia is having pop-up sale and brunch at Artistry, if you want to get started on your Christmas shopping.

PARTY
Catch the last Sunday at the Training Shed of the year, this time with tropical music DJ Captain Planet, among other musical talents, along with Band of Doodlers doing graffiti.

FILM
One of our favorite outdoor bars is now hosting a movie series. Catch Reelak Sessions at Sultan hotel’s Fresh, where they will screen French romance Populaire, preceded by yoga and typesetting workshops and some monster milkshakes by Benjamin Browns.

Tanjong Beach Club is roping in soulful house music people Owen S. and The Sunchasers for this edition of Smack My Beach Up.

It’s outdoor party galore today as Haji Lane’s Koi Izakaya joins in the fun with Hair of the Dog. DJs Ulysses, Dang and Johan will spin, there will be food and drink and proceeds will go towards our furry friends at ACRES.
