Korea’s oldest pharma brand has brought its skincare range to Singapore

In a K-Beauty landscape dominated by trendy products that come and go, it’s refreshing to see a brand that has truly stood the test of time. In this case, 122 years to be exact.

Now available in Singapore exclusively at selected Guardian stores is the entire Whal Myung range of skincare products by Dong Wha Pharm, the oldest Korean pharmaceutical company and the people behind Whal Myung Su, a traditional remedy that many Koreans swear by.

The Whal Myung range of products now available here include the cult favourite Whal Myung Skin Elixir ($68 for 100ml). It is a serum, toner and oil all at once, and uses natural herbs and ingredients in traditional Korean medicine to hydrate skin and counteract signs of aging. It also boasts antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

There’s also the Whal Myung Skin Elixir Mask ($28 for a box of five) perfect for a quick pick-me-up. Unlike most masks, this one uses self-binding properties of the fiber to prevent irritating even the most sensitive skin.

Other items include serums, balms and creams for more specific uses, including regenerating healthy skin. Get the Whal Myung Mini Trio Kit ($23) that’s perfect as a gift and a travel kit, or to simply try a range of their products.

At the same time, sister label Intrinsic is also launching here. Founded by the fourth-generation owner of Dong Wha Pharm, the more modern Intrinsic brand was created to specifically treat sensitive skin with safe and dermatologically-tested skincare products.

Products available include the Intrinsic Sol D UV Sunscreen ($42 for 50ml) that doesn’t clog pores and don’t irritate skin, while being completely non-comedogenic at the same time. Get the Intrinsic Foam Cleanser ($24 for 120g) too, that deep-cleanses, effortlessly removing products off your skin, while not causing dryness at the same time.
