The Week in Beauty: Ikeda Spa, Kim Robinson and Miley’s nails

For V-day this year, Ikeda Spa is embracing the whole chocolate-and-flowers cliché with a two-hour pampering package. It starts with one of toughest, most thorough scrubdowns we’ve experienced, which was a bit of a shock if you were expecting some slow seduction. Then, it’s off to a (very) hot red rose bath in a lovely wooden tub. Half an hour later, minds altered from the heat and steam, we were treated to a short but powerful deep tissue massage, followed by a standard massage with chocolate oil, which left us sniffing ourselves the entire day. It also works as a PMS treat.

We then checked in at plush hair salon Kim Robinson for their signature dry haircut, efficiently and confidently executed by stylist Royjo Kwan. This was followed by a hard-to-forget shampoo and rinse that came with a 20-minute head, neck and shoulder massage. While this place does cost a pretty penny, we think they’re worth the splurge, given their impressive service level.

Meanwhile, Miley Cyrus’s blah new video deserves love only for her nails, which, although not exactly safe for what she was purportedly doing, are pointy, black, and look sick as hell while she’s clawing the sheets. We’d take the look to the next level with Deborah Lippmann’s polish in punk-inspired I Fought The Law (super-dark navy with grainy texture; available at Takashimaya).
