Decathlon Singapore needs no introduction. A reliable sports and fitness store, the brand is probably our island’s largest sporting goods retailer. And now active residents of Punggol can rejoice, as the French brand is arriving at Northshore Plaza on Oct 29 as part of its expansion plans.
But other than its sizable space, the sixth Decathlon Experience Store will boast an instagrammable mural, self-help machines, activities and most importantly: over 5,000 products across 60 sports.
So what captures our attention the most are two things. One, how this branch allows fitness enthusiasts to “find themselves” through a sport with a space called Singapore’s Active Health Discovery zone. There, individuals can experience a range of sport and exercise science with interactive self-assessment kiosks and regular workshops available and organised by accredited Active Health coaches. Not to mention, receive tips on how they can proactively own their health and wellness.
Another is how Decathlon is making an effort to be sustainable and carbon-neutral. To that end, the fitness brand has built an indoor running track made entirely out of recycled exercise shoes. Furthermore, shoe donation and electronic waste bins can also be found within the premises, where customers can give their old shoes a new lease of life as recycled infrastructure materials and dispose of electronic waste appropriately.
Other sustainability actions include Decathlon’s switch to using fully biodegradable materials for its fleece products, as well as packaging for online orders.
Lastly, to commemorate this opening (and milestone event), between Oct 29-31, Decathlon will be offering a slew of activities—like designing your own skateboards—and prizes worth up to S$200 (think Tilt’s folding bike and Town’s adult scooter) to be won. You won’t want to miss this.
