National Day is just around the corner, and in celebration of Singapore’s 56th birthday, everyone’s favourite sporting goods retailer Decathlon is hosting its first-ever virtual sports carnival. Held in partnership with Sport Singapore, Decathlon Sports Fest 2021 will take place from Jul 24-Aug 8 and feature a slew of sports activities for the Singaporean population to enjoy.
And depending on the number of challenges completed, participants will be rewarded with either gold, silver, or bronze award packages which comprise Decathlon’s range of sports and fitness equipment. Simply continue reading to find out which challenges are up your alley.
Sports activity 1: Run
Since the event is organised fairly close to National Day, Decathlon is inviting all locals to commemorate Singapore’s 56th birthday with a 5.6km run. Between Jul 24-Aug 6, interested participants can make use of their personal fitness app and clock the distance at their own comfort, pace and route. Runners hoping to snag a $25 Decathlon gift card can even don a full Decathlon ensemble and showcase their OOTD photograph for a shot at the Best Outfit challenge.
Sports activity 2: HIIT
During the same period, attendees can also choose to participate in Decathlon’s one-hour high-intensity interval training (HIIT) via Zoom. The training will be conducted by trainers from The Ring Boxing Community, Grityard, and The Faculty.
At the end of the session, participants can push their mental strength next in Decathlon’s HIIT trivia which will allow them to win a one week free gym pass—worth up to S$150—at the aforementioned facilities.
Sports activity 3: Yoga
For participants who prefer to have a lighter workout, they can instead go for a yoga session (of their choice) with Decathlon via Zoom.
Yogis can even finish the session on a fun note when they strike a yoga pose and snap a picture of it. Because the top seven yogis with the most creative pose will win a $25 Decathlon Gift Card as well.
Sports activity 4: Wheels
From Jul 26-Aug 1, whether it’s with skates, longboards or bicycles, interested parties can use their own wheel equipment to travel and visit five Singapore landmarks: Decathlon Orchard, National Museum of Singapore, Fort Canning Lighthouse, Merlion, and Fountain of Wealth.
Those who travelled with the shortest and most efficient route will stand a chance at winning some attractive cash prizes.
Sports activity 5: Team or individual sport
Singapore has some well-known names for sports like football, basketball, badminton, swimming, to name a couple. After all, we’ve got the Young Lions, Singapore Slingers, Low Kean Yew and Joseph Schooling.
Simply join in those ranks when you demonstrate your kicking and swimming skills from Jul 31-Aug 6. All players can earn additional rewards (a $25 Decathlon gift card) if they create, complete, and share their challenge with Decathlon.
Sports activity 6: Walkathon
Decathlon Sports Fest 2021 will come to a close with its store-to-store walkathon challenge.
On either Aug 7 or 8, participants can select one walkathon route—either Decathlon Orchard to Decathlon Singapore Lab (10km) or Decathlon Bedok to Decathlon Singapore Lab (6.5km)—to compete in.
Those who walk in National Day colours can also snap a photo of themselves at Decathlon stores, to stand a chance at winning another $25 Decathlon gift card.
Registration for Decathlon Sports Fest 2021 starts from now till Jul 23, and all successful sign-ups will be entitled to an exclusive event pack which includes an event t-shirt and a fitness bag.
