Elaborate set-ups boasting photo opportunities have been sweeping the island for a while now, with brands like Sephora and Topshop revolutionising the idea of how we consume and perceive retail. The newest addition to the island, however, is no mere pop-up that will disappear after a few weeks. Luxury hair boutique Chez Vous is weaving the ultimate photographic, pop-up experience into hairdressing—and isn’t going anywhere.
Chez Vous Hair Salon has been around since 1995, but the new experiential concept is brand spanking new. Chez Vous: HideAway Concept Hair Salon combines seven fantastically designed zones in an 1800 sq-ft space inside Ngee Ann City. The actual space used to be an office, which might explain the maze-like design that ends up feeling like a funhouse.

Take a walk through a Hogwarts-inspired library reception (complete with a secret entrance through a life-sized painting), relax in an all-pink Rose Quartz Private Room, and have your hair washed in an atmospheric Wash Aquarium, where projections of jellyfish and aquatic art on the wall soothe your senses while you’re getting a deep conditioning.

Don’t forget that at the end of the day, HideAway is still a hair salon, where you can choose from a strict tiered pricing scheme (starting for $199 for two services) to upgrade your ‘do. Apart from the usual cut and colour, each appointment comes with a bespoke Aromatherapy journey with an essential oil blend of your choice, add-ons like scalp rejuvenation treatments, and complimentary spa-like treats like herbal teas and snacks. It’s the perfect luxury-meets-entertainment experience to wrap up your shitty 2018.
