Gym bunnies are always looking for new and exciting ways to stay in shape instead of slogging the weight off on the mundane treadmill. From air-drumming to piloxing, our little island has its fair share of quirky workouts. There’s definitely a need for it, especially since there’s always a new restaurant or food festival happening every other month or so. Now you can add altitude training at the new Virgin Active to the list.
Sir Richard Branson’s famed fitness chain has just opened up its second club at Tanjong Pagar, and it’s replete with the usual amenities that you can get at the Raffles Place branch, such as the sleep pods and salt room for meditation classes. But what sets this new out let apart is its altitude training.
The studio will “acclimatize” to conditions of up to 3000 meters above sea level so you know it’s a real intensive workout training as compared to other gimmicky workouts out there. Known to improve your overall body’s cardiovascular and respiratory system, this workout will allow you to recover faster from workouts and also increase your fat burning rate. So if you’re planning to climb Mount Everest, this is one workout you should try.
