Play, learn and create art online as the National Gallery’s children’s festival returns digitally

Keeping your child entertained at home amid the Covid-19 pandemic is no easy feat. But it is about to get less challenging as the National Gallery Singapore is offering a helping hand from now till Mar 28, 2021 with their biennial children’s festival now headed online. Named #SmallBigDreamersAtHome, find engaging and interactive activities for children aged six to 12, although those a little older or younger are bound to benefit from it as well.

To check out all the amazing offerings, head over to the #SmallBigDreamersAtHome interactive site, inspired by the artworks of five local and Southeast Asian artists. Complete with ideas from the younger generation themselves, the site boasts four different experience zones including Artists’ Studio, Play and Discover, Make and Create, as well as Watch and Listen. In fact, later in the year, a fifth experience zone will be introduced, which features live stream programmes for kids to sign up.

So make a visit to the Artists’ Studio where an immersive art-viewing experience awaits. Youngsters can begin their journey by learning about artworks and their respective artists upon which the festival is based; simply get up close and personal with the works by browsing and scrolling through the five masterpieces.

Then, pop over to Make and Create, which offers a collection of activity sheets for the little ones to get creative with. Parents, just download and print out these projects and enjoy a bonding session that’s rewarding and fulfilling for your kiddo.

Don’t miss Play and Discover too, as engaging and educational games lie here. A total of three games are now available such as An Artist’s Tropical Landscape, Feeling Blocks and My Ink-credible Adventure. This is the place for your budding artist to make the world their canvas.

Lastly, enjoy on-demand video tutorials by independent artists and illustrators with Watch and Listen, which aims to inspire kids to embark on art projects of their own.

But that’s not all. With the festival running for almost an entire year, look forward to refreshed materials and the constant introduction of new games, tutorials as well as the additional experience zone. Finally—never worry about scouring the internet for child-friendly content again.
