It looks like brick and mortar stores are not a thing of the past. Following the departure of Robinsons at The Heeren, home appliance chain Courts will be moving into the vacated retail space along Orchard Road to mark Nojima Corp’s first overseas venture of a large-format concept in Singapore’s central location.
Occupying all six storeys of The Heeren building, the megastore will span 189,000 sq ft when completed, replacing the Tampines megastore as the official flagship outlet in Singapore.
As for the offerings, Courts has teased that the new locale will be all about experiential retail, introducing concepts which are bold and fresh. Hoping to open by early 2022, the new flagship store is also set to deliver Japanese standards of customer experience as its key differentiating factor.

Says Hoang Duc Thanh Matthew, Group Chief Operating Officer of Courts Asia Limited and Country CEO of Courts Singapore: “We are looking forward to expanding our presence in Orchard Road to where it all began and raise the bar further in offering Singaporeans innovative and experiential retail experiences while shopping for electronics and home furnishings.”
“Coupled with the URA’s long-term plans to rejuvenate Orchard Road as a lifestyle destination, we envision that the new flagship store will contribute to the vibrancy of the retail sector.”
But to know what all that truly means, shoppers will have to wait out the renovations.
In the meantime, feel free to visit any of Courts Singapore’s 14 outlets in Singapore, including the store residing at 228 Orchard Road, near Midpoint Orchard. Still in operation, the only store currently in the main shopping district will only be further reviewed when the flagship opens.
