It’s all good in the ‘hood thanks to brand-new app GoodHood.SG, that’s all about neighbourly love. Now available on both the App Store and Google Play, this free platform created by a couple of local entrepreneurs encourages users to share items and services by donating or selling them.
Simply download the app onto your smartphone, and register yourself as a neighbour by verifying your postal code. Then, provide some information about yourself and what services you are able to offer others in the community.
Being location-based, get to know your fellow neighbours through status updates and posts on your home feed. Comment or drop them a message if you’d like their help, and vice versa. But fret not, your exact address is never compromised; only your district is revealed.
The app also allows frontliners in the fight against Covid-19 to state their employment, so others may offer additional support and help towards them. And in that same vein, GoodHood.SG is giving out free masks to those who have a limited supply. All you have to do is share your needs and mailing address, and you’ll receive your masks in the mail.
As stated on their Facebook page, GoodHood.SG has an increasing number of users, with some offering to circulate masks as well, alongside free grocery shopping services and more. Some estates with the largest amount of GoodHooders include Bishan and Bedok (so y’all know where to find one another).
Originally set to launch later in 2020, the team behind the app decided to hasten its launch date in order to have it live during these troubled times. And now that we’ve entered “circuit breaker” mode, we’d say this app couldn’t have come at a better time. Let the kampung spirit live on.
