How to turn your house into a smart home

You’ve just spent a long day at work; you’re tired, hungry and a little cranky. You just can’t wait to get home to unwind and enjoy your evening. Or maybe you’ve been stuck at home all day looking after the kids, and wish you had more help with the housework.

So you launch the LG ThinQ App on your phone. Soon the laundry is done, clothes are wrinkle-free and the whole house smells fresh and clean. With a simple voice command, the TV plays your favourite channel or movie that’s automatically optimised for best viewing.

This is a snapshot of what living in a smart home is like. The good news is, it’s not a futuristic scenario but something that you can experience today. Thanks to LG’s newest suite of smart appliances, you can enjoy greater convenience and a hands-free lifestyle. The combination of LG ThinQ App accessibility and Google Assistant compatibility means you no longer have to struggle with certain household tasks, giving you more time for yourself and your family.

Get a smart TV

Start with the LG CX OLED TV (available in 55-, 65- and 77-inch sizes)1. It is equipped with ThinQ AI (the brand’s next-level artificial Intelligence technology) and a built-in Google Assistant that helps you control the basic functions of your TV. Adjust the volume, change channels, turn on and off the TV, browse the Internet or control smart home devices, all with a simple voice command—just say “Hi, LG” into the Magic Remote and it will recognise your voice. Powered by the α9 Gen3 AI Processor, it is also capable of automatically adjusting the displayed content to its most optimised version for an enhanced TV viewing.

Sanitise your clothes the high-tech way

If you’ve come home and are worried about germs and bacteria lingering on your clothes, pop them into the LG StylerTM Mirrored Finish (S3MFC). Its TrueSteamTM technology uses steam to sanitise fabrics, and reduce allergens, odours and wrinkles as they hang from the Moving Hanger (it gently shakes from side to side). Plus, the low temperature drying system dries clothing faster than air drying, preventing shrinking and damage caused by heat. It’s the perfect device if your garments need a quick refresh before heading out the door!

Use the LG ThinQ App to activate the device and monitor each cycle so that you can prep ahead of time to look your absolute best. Oh, and it looks cool too. Its sleek design complements any home, and the mirrored finish lets you check out your look before you head out.

Do the laundry easily

Washing clothes can be a laborious task but the LG AI Direct DriveTM Front Load Washer Dryer (FV1450H2K) makes it much easier. The LG ThinQ App allows you to control your washing machine remotely, check the energy consumption and operate a new cycle. You’ll even receive notifications when your laundry is completed. But this washing machine goes a few steps further. Its AI Direct DriveTM technology actually weighs your laundry and can detect the softness of your fabric. It then automatically selects the optimal washing pattern for each fabric based on deep-learning technology.

According to LG, this means that your clothes will last longer with 18 per cent2 more fabric protection. The TurboWashTM 360 function (with four directional 3D multi-nozzles) ensures clothes are thoroughly cleaned, and laundry load completed in as quick as 39 minutes3.

Purify your home

Before you enter your home, turn on the LG PuriCareTM 360° Double Air Purifier (AS95GDPV0). The LG ThinQ App allows you to turn it on wherever you are, control key features and check the air quality, so you can enjoy clean and fresh air when you arrive home. It has a six-step filtration system to eliminate 99.9 per cent of pollutants4 including dust5, allergens and harmful gases, so your rooms can smell clean and fresh.
