This is one of the few places that many would think of when you mention “rooftop bar” or “restaurant with a view”. Boasting sweeping views of the Marina Bay and Singapore’s constantly-changing financial center, Me@OUE, perched at the top of the OUE Bayfront Building, has been keeping up with a steady flow of diners since 2013. But all good things must come to an end. On Mar 29, they’re packing up and calling it quits.
The floor-to-ceiling windows make for a great backdrop when dining here. There are three kitchens—Chinese, French and Japanese—all kept separate so there’s no fusion confusion. From now till the impending closure, order up everything from street food to elegant French plates from the stellar service staff who are always smooth and helpful but never intrusive. Executive chef Sam Chin takes it upon himself to source for all the ingredients, and uses age-old traditional cooking methods and refined contemporary techniques for every dish. They also have regular guest chef appearances from some of the world’s best restaurants.
While a representative of the establishment said that “it was the right time to close” when asked, it’s not all doom and gloom, it seems. They also mentioned that an announcement on what will take over the space will be made once they’ve sorted out the details. We asked if the same management will be running the place, but they replied with a vague statement that they’ll release more details much later. Are we hopeful? Maybe. Its prime location shouldn’t go to waste, but we’ll see.
