British gastropub Oxwell & Co on Ann Siang Hill to close on Jul 18

We remember fondly the day British gastropub Oxwell & Co swung open its doors here seven years ago. It took over a corner spot on Ann Siang Hill, across the road from where The Screening Room is. And back then, they were already breaking new ground with interesting concepts like cocktails on tap, themed private dining rooms, and addictive snacks like popcorn mussels.

That’s what makes it so much harder to hear that this Saturday, Jul 18, will be their last day of operations here, just as their tenancy expires.

Like many businesses, the closure is being attributed to the ongoing Covid-19 crisis. But even as they prepare to shutter, they are still hoping that this isn’t a goodbye for good.

“The team is working hard to identify a new venue to ensure that our absence on the scene is a hiatus, rather than a final farewell,” stated Ben Jones, CEO of M. Group, the hospitality group behind Oxwell & Co, in a media release.

“Until we meet again, we encourage everyone to support this amazing city’s F&B scene. The industry is having a tough time, and needs your support. Eat in, take out, tip well, and show your appreciation,” he added. “Every little helps.”

While Oxwell & Co will definitely be having one last hurrah this Saturday, feel free to order their delivery and takeaways too, if you’re still not comfortable with dining out.

Or support the group’s other famed establishment, Operation Dagger, that’s actually located right beside Oxwell & Co, through a hidden marked doorway on the left if you’re facing the venue from the street.

Meanwhile, keep in touch with the team on their socials.
