The up-coming DJ/Producer is only 22-years-old and is already making waves with his impeccable releases and mesmerizing sets. He speaks to I-S ahead of his gig at Zouk.
How did you first got into DJing and producing?
The first time I saw a DJ play was on TV, I totally fell in love with the art of DJing. I started playing piano when I was 6 years old and later on I started to work on my own tracks.
Define your style of music.
It’s energetic and uplifting with a feel good vibe.
How have your year been so far and what are you busy with?
Most of the time I’m working in the studio on tracks and remixes, of course a lot of DJing and working on my label Revealed Recordings.
You just released “Zero 76” with Tiesto and the track has been floating on top of the Beatport charts and rocking dancefloors worldwide. How did you and Tiesto first came to realize the project?
When we first met each other, it was like an instant click. Like friends but also music wise. So we decided to put our thoughts together and collaborate.
The industry is labeling you as an exquisite remixer. Any chance of a personal release soon?
I just finished a new track called “Encoded” and will be released in April on my label Revealed Recording including a Dada Life remix.
You are one of the youngest DJ/Producer around at 23 years old, what do you think is the most valuable lesson you’ve learned so far?
Don’t believe any hype, it’s just a movement. Do what you love to do the most.
What is the current state of the Dutch electronic dance music scene now?
It’s been always big. House is one of the most important genres in Holland and will always be I guess. There are so many parties over here and such a good club vibe and I think that’s the reason why so many DJ’s come from Holland.
Name some of the best clubs you’ve ever DJed in so far.
It’s hard to name a few, but that would be: Pacha and Privilege in Ibiza.
What’s your idea of a perfect set?
When the vibe of the set totally matches with the atmosphere in the club and the mood of the crowd.
Name your most inspiring DJs and producers and why.
Swedish House Mafia, because they’re always try to do something different and the way these guys work and put out so many good tracks it unbelievable.
You’ll be debuting in Zouk for the first time, what can we expect?
A lot of Hardwell music.
