Who doesn’t love cocktails? Ok maybe some macho men still insist of having a beer. “Too sweet”, some say. Another cocktail joint has opened up this month. It’s called Nektar and we had the pleasure of sampling some of its signatures.
Bar chef Ravin had the honor of mixing up our libations for the night. Armed with a short stint behind the kitchen, Ravin mixed, muddled, flambéed and stirred some pretty decent cocktails.
We tried the Nektar Margarita (made with agave nectar and Don Julio tequila and topped with salt ‘air’), Sangrita (which tasted more like a gazpacho) and the sweet chocolate martini (made a la minute with Valrhona bitter chocolate, half-and-half). I think the margarita was the star of the night but if you’re in the adventurous mood, get the bar chef on duty to do a bespoke one for you.
Other than cocktails, the bar also serves up a good list of single malts. And they have this nifty contraption that makes ice spheres for your Glencairn glass. It works solely on physics: just pop in a block of ice, put the top on and wait for it.
