Last weekend’s nightlife parties were off the hook with electro queen Peaches rocking the floor at Home Club on Friday while Canadian noise-niks Crystal Castles tore Zouk down despite Alice Glass spraining her ankle (she performed on stage with a crutch).
Kevin and Gino together with Soul Kool get Monday off to a good start from 8-9pm at The Boiler Room, and it’s Happy Hour as well.
Tuesday will see Umar Rana bringing the house down with his rib-tickling jokes for Comedy Masala’s Night #16 at Home Club. 12 open micers will hit the stage, each getting 5 mins to make you ROFL and try for the Top 5 spots.
If you haven’t been to new Soul yet, make it this Wednesday. The new dance club throws Lipgloss Wednesday (more ladies’ nights please) with DJs Raw, Muddy and Effen spinning electro, hip hop and anthems. It’s free flow and free entry for ladies. Guys pay $25 cover. Sorry dudes.
Soul brotha Brendon P will make you reach for the stars with him crazy house, soul and funk edits at Ying Yang this Thursday. Buy him a drink and maybe he’ll play your fav tune. No Lady Gaga please.
On Friday, Zirca hosts Aussie indie act Miami Horror who will whip up some space-disco and electro tunes. Stereolab, on the other hand will see jocks Tony Tay and Small taking over the decks for the debut of new night [mɪ’stɪ:k]. Get ready for some deep dark tribal house and techno tunes for this one.
If you love the outdoors, then Saturday is it. Wavehouse hosts Grammy-nominated electro-hoppers LMFAO. We hear the sexy Luxy Girls from Taiwan will be showing off their sexy moves on the sand. Hmmm…Definitely a must-see. Off-the-beaten-track restobar Raw Kitchen Bar is throwing a farewell party. They’re moving to fresh new digs in nearer to the city. Over at The Rabbit Hole, BBC Radio 1’s Benji B will throw down some of his signature broken beat, dubstep and soul.
It’s not really nightlife related but it’ll be a shame if you miss this show. Sunday is your last chance to catch Pompeii: Life in a Roman Town 79CE. And did I mention that it’s free entry (only this weekend).
