5 reasons why Singapore nightlife is going to be awesome in 2016

[Sponsored] Rooftop parties, street parties, cocktail and beer festivals galore, the next edition of Ultra, and lots more—there’s plenty for nightlife fiends to be excited about in 2016. Here are just a few.

1. Glamorous daytime drinking will continue

There may have been a couple small upheavals to the daytime drinking scene, but on the whole, it’s set to persist. Sundays At The Training Shed had their last sesh at Labrador Park back in November, but the party will continue at the wholesome, arty, BBQ-y cafe and cocktail place Kult Kafe over at Emily Hill. Also making a comeback this year are alternative, mid-day clubbing gigs like the Sorrynotsorry and Eyestothefront  pool parties. Then there are glamorous boozy brunch parties like the Sky High Brunch by CÉ LA VI. The next one is on Jan 23 from 11am-4pm, and will be rolling with free-flow Veuve Clicquot Rose, cocktails and a buffet of fresh oysters and other goodies, with Ibiza-style beats by resident DJ Brendon P.

2. Our love affair with craft beer persists

Far from a blip on the trend radar, our obsession with craft beer is showing no signs of abating. Coming up real soon from March 4-6 is Singapore’s first ever craft beer festival, Craft Singapore 2016 featuring more than 25 local and international brewers from around the world followed by the annual Beerfest Asia happening from from Jun 16-19. And topping it off for the year is Singapore Craft Beer Week  from Aug 20-27

3. Classic cocktails are getting makeovers

Cocktail bars of every price range proliferated in 2015, with fancy ones like Gibson and delightfully dive-y ones like Fresh mixing things up. Classic tiki cocktails made a return and Asian flavors continued to inspire. Singapore Cocktail Week just announced that it’ll be back for a second time in March. Over at CÉ LA VI, head mixologist Knut Randheim is mixing up Asian-inspired twists on bar classics like the Storm Cooler ($24) featuring a sweet, sour and spicy concoction of Grey Goose, passionfruit, honey and raw licorice powder; and the Sweet Heat ($24) featuring Don Julio Tequila with passion fruit and lime, Japanese shishito peppers and vanilla.

4. There will be more street parties

There’s word that there’ll be more car-free zones this year which can only mean one thing : more street parties. Offbeat bar and restaurant Handlebar recently hosted the The 1st Annual Wicked Wallop—a massive biker party complete with tattoo parlours, pinstriping booths, leathercraft stalls and bike building workshops. We’re crossing our fingers for more boozy art fairs atop People’s Park Complex carpark by Lepark along with more outdoor dancing at Haji Lane, Circular Road and possibly even Keong Saik Road, if recent rumors are any indication.

5. Global bragging rights

The voting is open now for DJ Mag’s global Top 100 Clubs list, and there are some strong Singapore contenders hoping to put our little party island on the world stage. With 360-degree views of the CBD skyline and an all-day party atmosphere, CÉ LA VI is one of them, thanks in no small part to its world-class DJ gigs, ritzy rooftop parties and award-winning mixology. The swanky nightspot’s recent revamp sees an Southeast Asian inspired touch and the biggest resident DJ team in town with 14 local DJs helming the consoles. It’s also the only local club that’s open every day of the week from noon till dusk.
