In the blink of an eye, one of the pioneers and giants of the local cocktail scene, Jigger & Pony—and by extension the eponymous Jigger & Pony Group—is now six years of age. Through those years, the same folks have opened our favorite spots the likes of Gibson, Humpback and, of course, Sugarhall.
Come Jul 28, we’ll have to bid adieu to both Sugarhall and the mother bar itself, Jigger & Pony, both of which are currently located side-by-side along Amoy St. During that final weekend from Jul 27-28, both venues will be having their last celebrations there by throwing a libatious party at their respective OG spaces. So if you’ve somehow not been down before, this is your last chance.
But there’s a silver lining here. Jigger & Pony is set to reopen by early September this year at the lobby level of nearby Amara Singapore at Tanjong Pagar. It’s gonna be where Alphabet Bar used to be, which is now hoarded up and being transformed into something more apt. We can only hope it’ll retain parts of what made the original Amoy space so classy and inviting.
Sugarhall, however, will not have a new home—at least not yet. We last heard the owners are still trying to find a space fit for the brand to be sited. Until then, we’ll be heading over to Gibson for our tipples.
