Ku De Ta has a new name

After a long tussle over licensing with the Bali flagship, Marina Bay Sands’ cool rooftop bar, restaurant and club is no longer Ku De Ta. The sky-high nightspot is now Cé La Vi (which is KDT-speak for “c’est la vie” which in turn is French for “that’s life”). Here’s what you need to know:

1. It’ll be more Asian. The place will take cues from Asian civilizations, particularly Southeast Asia, incorporating 16th century Javanese poetry, 18th century Balinese woodwork and even a little bit of Angkor Wat up in the sky. The food and cocktail menu will also reflect Asian flavors.

2. There are new chefs. This time, the kitchen will be run by Chef Frederic Faucheux, who has work in Michelin-starred restaurants and places like Nobu. Alongside him is pastry chef Jason Licker, who was recently crowned “Iron Chef Thailand”. On the drinks front, bartender Knut Randhem has created an all-new menu with Asian-inspired cocktails.

3. There will be Gatsby-esque parties. On the club side of the floor, they will be bringing in Lil’ Jon to kick things off with a Grey Goose party series. Plus, they’ve got plans for Great Gatsby themed parties with poolside barbecues and lots of sunset sessions.

4. But wait, they’re going to renovate. Before things are up-and-running, the club, restaurant and bar will go through a summer-long renovation (no word on when exactly) to spruce things up. They’re also planning on expanding to Hong Kong and Dubai in the next few years.
