You may have had a sip or two of Little Creatures‘ offerings at places like 40 Hands and Common Man Coffee Roasters, or you may have a stash waiting at home to consume after work every other day. But come May 30, you can have their wildly popular, hop-driven, full-bodied Pale Ale on tap, as well as other beers from their full range, right here in Singapore.
The company has had a presence in Singapore since 2010, but they’ve only just set up their own shop in a heritage building on a cozy corner of Mohamed Ali Lane, just off of Club Street; their second international offshoot after Hong Kong. The wide space can seat a total of 180 people and has a standing capacity of 100. On tap, you’ll have a choice of six beers ($12-17)—their flagship Pale Ale, Original Pils, Bright Ale, IPA, Rogers’ and White Rabbit White Ale. Their offerings have a distinctively bitter finish—which sets them apart from others—because the brewers love throwing in bagloads of whole hop flowers at different points of their brewing process. There are also two rotating taps with special house brews ($11-14), like Singapore’s own Club Street Sub IPA, the refreshing wheat Lunar Ale and Mt. Hood IPA.
With the brewing drums and brew kit on site, regional brewer Jum Ryan, who will be heading the Singapore branch, is all ready to play around with flavors that will cater to our local taste buds. But of course, to make the experience one that’s wholesome, they’ve also engaged the help of chef Kwek Xiu Rong (previously from Jamie’s Italian), who will be whipping up a menu of casual Mediterranean-inspired sharing plates, bar bites and mains. Some dishes that has got us screaming down the street for more include their vegan-friendly Portobello mushroom burger ($26), their super comforting chicken rice risotto ($26), their take on fried man tou with chilli crab sauce ($19) and sharing plates of steamed mussels in a delicious creamy sauce ($29).
Little Creatures Mohamed Ali Lane is located at 36 Club St. (entrance via Mohamed Ali Lane) and will be open daily from 8am-12mn from May 30 onwards. More info here.
