Little India has upped its hip factor, thanks to the recent opening of Bellwethers, a new bistro-bar that shares a back lane with Broadcast HQ.
Situated on the ground floor of a corner shophouse along the notorious Desker Road, the laidback, unpretentious watering hole stands out with its modern, industrial-chic decor. There’s not much space indoors (with about six tables and a bar), so the owners have called on the back lane for an alfresco seating area.
Currently on the food menu is a range of of bar bites such as Desker Drumlets ($12), Chunky Cheesey Fries ($12) and Bellwethers BBQ Chicken ($13). Drinks-wise, there’s a decent range of beers like Mac’s Great White ($10 a pint), Steinlager Pure ($8/bottle) and Magners Pear Cider ($10/bottle), alongside a handful of cocktails ($15 each), spirits (from $10) and house wines ($9 a glass). It’s still a work-in-progress, so expect to see additions to the food menu as they transition into a full day bistro/bar over the next few months.
Bellwethers is one of the establishments that’s joined in the gentrification of Jalan Besar.
