Having served quality cocktails for five consecutive years, the organisers aren’t planning on stopping just yet as Singapore Cocktail Festival is back for its sixth edition this year, continuing its headline festivities, while bringing on bartenders and signature cocktails all the way from London to join the fun.
“We are always looking for new ways to excite festival-goers, so even though the Festival Village is not able to return (yet), we are confident that participating cocktail bars will put on their best and most innovative experiences to wow their fans,” said Wai Mayleng, Co-founder of Singapore Cocktail Festival.
Ivy Woo, also a Co-founder of Singapore Cocktail Festival, added: “With everything that the industry has gone through since last year, we wanted to reflect on how far the cocktail industry has come. By initiating a collaboration between the cocktail cohort in London, one of the oldest cocktail cities in the world; and Singapore, crowning cocktail capital of Asia, we wanted to show how we can remain resilient so long as we stay together.”
On that note, here are the best events for imbibers to whet their alcoholic appetite.
City Takeover
Continuing to spearhead SGCF is City Takeover as 36 participating cocktail bars will present one SGCF signature cocktail each that encapsulates the theme of “music” (something which the bar industry has been lacking of late). So depending on their music preferences, festival-goers can select from a range of tipples—concocted by bartenders at Madame Fan, MO Bar, Tippling Club and more—based on a song or an artist such as Frank Sinatra, Sal Valetinetti and Sarah Kang.
All cocktails are priced at $18 for festival attendees.
Cocktail Brunches
From Nov 13 to Dec 12, across five weekends, topers can look forward to cocktail brunches at 10 bars including Origin Bar, Republic Bar, Tess Bar & Kitchen and Tippling Club. Each bar will be taking turns to impress epicureans in a cocktail brunch showdown.
Those who enjoy a pescatarian diet can turn to Astor Bar, for instance, which features a four-course menu, that starts with a Fresh Seafood Platter of Alaskan King Crab, French Oysters and Shrimps.
On the other hand, locals who prefer Asian cuisine or a classic brunch experience, can respectively rely on Low Tide and Origin Bar to satiate their cravings.
At Low Tide, guests can sip on gin cocktails over a three-course menu with dishes like Rendang on Lemang, Makrut Lime Cake and Grilled Miso Egg Plant. At Origin Bar, guests will have cocktails served with Avocado Toasts, Bangers & Mash and a Pineapple Inverted Cake.
Bar Crawls
While waiting for an opportunity to travel to London, Singaporeans can first settle for SGCF’s The Taste of London Bar Crawls, as it takes imbibers to one of London’s most famous bars, such as Manhattan (#6 Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2021) X Artesian ( #41 The World’s 50 Best Bars 2020) and No Sleep Club (#8 Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2021) X Three Sheets.
Those who like to remain on home soil, however, can go for the SGCF Discovery Bar Crawl and raise their glasses at local bars such as Barbary Coast, Employees Only Singapore, Sago House, Set Of Six, Studio 1939, and The Old Man Singapore.
The Taste of London Bar Crawl’s tickets are priced at $100 per person; while The SGCF Discovery Bar Crawl’s tickets are priced at $70 per person.
