Tempura and techno music—two things you never thought you’d see together in a sentence, and yet here we are with a techno-tempura party named Tekuno Tempura, happening this weekend.
Serving up this lovely mishmash of fried food and music is Keong Saik Road’s resident tempura bar, Tempura Oji. Party within the unorthodox premises of the little tempura restaurant-cum-dancefloor after you’ve had your fill of udons, ramens and of course, various seafood/vegetable-based, flash-fried tempuras at affordable prices. Unlike most restaurants, Tempura Oji takes orders throughout the night until 1.30am.
This Saturday, the spotlight will be on Singaporean DJs Erwin Linden and James Selva for back-to-back sets of sick beats and jazzy funk to get the crowd moving. If you require some social lubricant before hitting the dancefloor; drink deals run the entire night from 6pm-2am, featuring $15 pours of house spirits, red and white wines, while Manifest and Tekuno cocktails are tagged at $18 a glass. The door charge of $15 also entitles each guest to a free housepour, in case you needed additional convincing.
Tekuno Tempura happens Sep 14 from 9pm-2am at Tempura Oji. More info here.
