Tanjong Beach Club

The buzz: After months of gestation, dingy-cool container bar, The Shack finally metamorphosized into the retro-luxe Tanjong Beach Club (TBC), bringing sexy back to Sentosa.

The decor: If you’re familiar with nightlife and dining stalwart The Lo & Behold Group’s stable of offerings like Loof, The White Rabbit and OverEasy, you’d know that these guys are sticklers for cool design, and Tanjong Beach Club is no different. Engaging their long-time archi-friends Taniguchi Webb, the 2,787 square meter beach house is the group’s biggest project yet. Modeled after a 1950s beach resort, the club comes replete with a pool boasting panoramic views of the sand, two bars, a restaurant and plenty of chill-out spaces.

The drinks: We love the cool cocktails like Tanjong Sling, a refreshing yet heady concoction of vodka, lychee, apple juice, kaffir lime and elderflower, the dark rum and Beach Club Spritz.

The food: Expect upscale beach pub grub at this joint such as potato crisps with blue crab dip, truffle fries and the gourmet burger with USDA prime beef, cheddar, tomato, red onion, and shredded lettuce; served with a side of fries. Yum.

The music: The splish-splash of swimmers frolicking in the pool fused with waves of dance music ranging from sunshine soul to balearic house, beach boogie to horizontal disco.

The crowd: The usual weekend beachcombers, sunbathers as well as the chi-chi cocktail swirling types.

Why you’ll be back: For a slice of beachside tranquility in Sentosa (until the party starts of course).
