Corduroy and Finch

There’s something we just don’t get about this San Francisco style deli. It looks great, it has a deli counter with colorful appetizers and desserts, shelves filled with jars of fancy food, sofas, good literature strewn around, a mouth watering menu, a trendy clientele and smart owners—so why, why can’t its kitchen get its act together? Two of our orders were not available, and these were menu favorites, not obscure seasonal items. Food took way too long to arrive—we waited a good 20 minutes for what we settled for, a sirloin burger and spinach puree with mash and fried egg, and we noticed other customers drumming their fingers too. Which is a shame because the food was decent, with the burger scoring top points. Our dessert sampler too was delicious, and included six beautifully presented varieties. We had to prompt our servers several times who were trying their best to keep things going smoothly. But people still like coming here, as the cool factor obviously outweighs the inconvenience. So keep this one on your radar, just make sure you have plenty of time to spare when you come.
