Fabbrica Italian Restaurant & Winebar

So it seems Dempsey Road, sorry, Tanglin Village, is the new place to see and be seen, and Fabbrica is a truly worthy addition to the mix. We like the interior which makes good use of the warehouse shape—it’s one huge open space with high corrugated ceilings and whitewashed walls. It must also be just about the only place in Singapore where it’s not freezing to sit inside, perhaps because, disturbingly, all the full length glass doors are open so the air conditioning basically blows straight outside. Environmental concerns aside, this makes for a comfortable atmosphere which adds to the quietly cheerful vibe—this place works for both couples and larger groups. And even better, the food is also good. Our starter of proscuitto wrapped mozzarella was suitably salty and sinfully delicious. Chased down by a stellar squid ink tagilatelli lobster and quirky beetroot ravioli, we found our savory dishes a delicious take on the more stock standard Italian fare. Our desserts fared a little less well: While the lava cake with gorgonzola was not bad, the semifreddo was a little bland. Still, for a newbie only open less than two months, Fabbrica is definitely worth a try. BYO corkage $25 for wine, $35 for champagne.
