The Marmalade Pantry

Stalwart cafe The Marmalade Pantry is still going as strong as ever, as you’ll find if you ever try to get in without a booking (in other words, forget about it). The vibe is chic with a mixture of expats and locals all there for the consistently wonderful food that’s fresh and delicious every time. Regulars love the menu’s mix of sandwiches, salads, hot dishes and desserts, and we adore everything we’ve tried in our countless visits. When we arrived for mid-week lunch the place was packed (as usual). Both our dishes were well above the average standard one usually expects for cafe fare—the miso tofu came topped with a small serving of tempura vegetables and was light and tasty, while the falafel wrap came with a nice small salad. If we had space we would definitely have partaken in one of Marmalade’s many fabulous desserts including daily cakes and cupcakes, but sadly we had to abstain. Our waiters were helpful but unobtrusive, and even as we prolonged our lunch engrossed in discussion, they left us with the appropriate space to do so undisturbed. The Marmalade Pantry always offers reliable stellar dishes in a relaxing and friendly environment and we’ll definitely continue coming back.
