Sling Conceptual Dining

The buzz: Thanks to the folks who brought you Gem Bar & Lounge and shots (the latter a café built for coffee addicts and photography buffs who’ll appreciate the photo art on the walls), we now have Sling. Just over two months old, it’s the newest addition to the group and a full-fledged restaurant.
The vibe: It’s very cozy and intimate, to say the least, with only 18 seats in the main area and eight spots in the private dining room. Governed by a sea of white tablecloths and black chairs, we appreciate the touch of turquoise tiles that jazz it up a tad.
The food: We’re telling you now—there’s no à la carte menu here; only three-course lunches ($40) and five-course dinners ($88), with two sets for each. Chef Tony Seah serves up modern European fare that changes weekly, using the freshest ingredients available. Sample offerings include starters such as pan-seared figs stuffed with foie gras, accompanied by zucchini pasta and a port shooter; or smoked crab with prawn cake and caramel apple and ginger compote. Mains include garlic butter-roasted king prawns with Japanese cucumbers and seafood couscous; or spinach-wrapped lamb with walnut cream cheese and red wine foie gras sauce.
Why you’ll be back: It’s an ideal date spot in our book. Plus, you can always get a shot of hard-hitting caffeine from downstairs to keep you up all night after.
