Sale-ing Along
Seriously people, with so many great deals taking place (except the big brands of course, which are simply too snobbish) you’ve got to have your own personal Sugar Daddy (or Mummy, depending on your inclination) to take full advantage. In last week’s shopping feature, I zoomed in on some of the best buys that you should be looking out for, including a seriously dope Bless bedsheet from A Curious Teepee, which will set you back $400-odd (check out our website if you missed it), but I’ve been advised by friends to hang on until the full sale kicks in. In the meantime, here are more deals that will get serious fashionistas reeling: Up to 50 percent off the revered 7 For All Mankind jeans at its flagship store at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, 30 percent off the current season from Zadig & Voltaire (also at MBS), 30 percent off the current season of local label Sifr at its flagship store Know It Nothing at Haji Lane and up to 80 percent off cool street brands 2K by Gingham, A Quiet Life, Pinder and even Comme des Garcons Speedos at indie boutique Urban Junkie at Far East Plaza. Head there now.
For Art’s Sake
So I don’t usually recommend online shopping—but I will when that’s the only way to go. A personal aquaintance of mine, Australian artist Ben Frost, has recently put up four pencil drawings for sale at http://stupidkrap.myshopify.com/collections/ben-frost/original-art. Now, Ben’s a pretty famous guy, and he’s one of the most interesting and subversive artists at work; someone whose style has copied many times over by artists whom I shall not name (including a local dude I know). His massive acrylic on board pieces averages AUD $4,000-12,000, so these four new works—including interpretations of Mr. T and Alice in Wonderland—are practically a steal at $240-290. Log on now to buy before they’re gone—trust me, these babies will go fast. You can also check out Ben’s previous works at the site or log onto www.benfrostisdead.com to find out more.
