American singer-songwriter Sam Beam a.k.a. Iron & Wine has been well loved ever since he came on the scene back in 2002. After more than a decade, he’ll be making his debut performance with a full band in Singapore on May 14 at Capitol Theatre.
His music often features acoustic guitars, banjos, slide guitars and other folksy elements, with lyrics telling stories that will pull at heart strings, recall imagery of the countryside and make you feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside. It’s no wonder that most of his music in his 18-year discography are well-received; he draws inspiration from everywhere—poetry, conversations, memories… he says that “[each song] demands different resources, so I just try to be present”.
His latest record Beast Epic, which Rolling Stone Magazine states has led him to reassume his role as “indie-folk romantic on most convincing LP in years”, earned him his first Grammy nomination for Best Americana Album, up against the likes of Gregg Allman, Brent Cobb, The Mavericks and eventual winners, Jason Isbell And The 400 Unit.
Tickets for the show on May 14 are priced at $68-98 and available via Ticketbox.
