The Substation kicks off the next installment of its 2018 exploration of the topic ‘Heritage’. En Bloc, or Buildings Must Die will feature an exhibition, talks and panels discussing the hot-button topic of conservation in Singapore. Through Sep 23

Iconic Hollywood duo Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker team up to rescue a kidnapped Chinese diplomat’s daughter, sans the help of the FBI and LAPD, in the 1998 action comedy Rush Hour. Part of the Popcorn Pop Up Cinema series. Aug 27

FILM
It doesn’t get more meta than chowing down on dim sum while watching Kung Fu Panda 3 at the all-new Dim Sum Cinema series. The menu for the night includes an assortment of dumplings (Po’s favorite!) and prawn and scallop sticky rice. Aug 27

The Israel Film Festival returns for its 26th edition with a leaner line-up of five films at The Projector. Opening and closing the festival is black comedy Longing, a family-centric drama that sets the tone for the rest of the tearjerker films. Aug 29-Sep 2

TALK/FILM
The war against plastic has been heating up the last few months; to guide the conversation in a productive direction, The Wedge Asia and EarthLife are holding a panel led by three industry leaders on their journey to zero waste, and how to help on an individual level. The talk will also include a film screening of Plastic Paradise, a multi-award-winning documentary on the detrimental effects of plastic pollution. As if we needed reminding. Aug 29

Perhaps the only thing more exciting than the return of Singapore’s most anticipated beer event is the news that it will no longer be held at the Marina Bay Cruise Centre. The 2018 edition of Beerfest Asia, which happens to be the festival’s 10th anniversary, will be held at The Meadow at Gardens by the Bay. As such, expect a supersized edition, with a bigger venue and an even larger range of local and international beers; over 600, up from last year’s 500. Aug 30-Sep 2
