A new, female-fronted music festival is debuting at Pasir Panjang Power Station

2019 has been a rather solid year for music. From new EDM festivals by the beach to first-time music series and jamming seshs at local hotspots, we can safely say that these music initiatives have debuted to much success. And this will continue into December, despite the fact that ZoukOut will not be returning for the first time since it arrived at Siloso Beach 18 years ago.

Come Dec 7, head to the decommissioned Pasir Panjang Power Station, which will see its first large-scale music event, The Alex Blake Charlie Sessions. Female-fronted, an entire line-up of local and international musicians are set to take the stage, bringing their various hits from across multiple genres.

First, bask in the good vibes laid out by local, indie-rock veteran DJ Ginette Chittick, who regularly spins at the Intermission Bar via her very own Daydream Nation nights. Then, watch Swedish pop songstress Leon dial things up several notches with her soulful tunes. Not only has the Tired of Talking singer receive praise by none other than Katy Perry herself, she also went viral on Soundcloud thanks to her “smoky” voice and relatable songs about romance.

And coming from the Land Down Under to perform (hopefully) new hits like Old Man and Tricks is Welsh-Australian Stella Donelley. Plus, house and techno DJ A/K/A Sounds who performed alongside Myrne at Sound Port will also be dishing out jams that’ll have you raving your day away.

Plenty of other talents will be welcomed too; expect acclaimed Welsh avant-pop musician Cate Le Bon, Finish pop sensation Alma, Brooklyn’s Charly Bliss with some power-pop, and more.

Helmed by the folks behind the last five editions of Laneway Festival Singapore, The Alex Blake Charlie Sessions will be celebrating female musicians in all their glory, besides keeping things interesting with a variety of music genres. So we’re not expecting anything short of a musical blowout that’ll gather some of our favourite female artists under the vacant power district’s roof. Let’s hope the acoustics are good.

The Alex Blake Charlie Sessions will be held at Pasir Panjang Power Station on Dec 7. Tickets and more information here.
