As Singapore’s National Day (Aug 9) fast approaches, so does the highly-anticipated long public holiday weekend. And if you’re looking to make this break count, then make a trip down to town to witness some stunning light projections and displays.
‘Cause in view of all the obstacles our country has faced this year, the National Heritage Board (NHB) is hoping to unite locals through arts, culture and heritage by illuminating seven historical landmarks across the Bras Basah.Bugis (BBB) precinct.
Just look forward to seeing monuments like the Central Fire Station, Cathedral of the Good Shepherd, National Museum of Singapore, National Design Centre, Stamford Arts Centre, Objectifs – Centre for Photography and Film, and The Cathay be bathed in our national colours as a representation of our country’s shared values and achievements.

Pro tip: the best way to visit the landmarks and capture photographs of the light-up is to first head to The Cathay before proceeding to the National Museum of Singapore. You’ll then want to make your way over to the Central Fire Station and the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd. Finally, check out Objectifs and Stamford Arts Centre before completing your self-guided tour at the National Design Centre.
Happening from now till Aug 30, the nightly light-ups will also be complemented by other happenings throughout the month of August. Highlights include a National Day Monumental Hunt, a virtual guided tour of the Singapore River Walk and even craft workshops at Our Tampines Gallery and Kreta Ayer Heritage Gallery.
So head down to check out these breathtaking light projections and mark your calendars for all the unique programmes taking place for the rest of the month. Consider your Phase 2 (HA) boredom killed.
