Singapore Cable Car celebrates 45 years with a nightly show of psychedelic colours

Many remember fondly the first time they set foot into a cable car, whether it be part of a family excursion or a date with your first love. Miraculously, the attraction has seen through four and a half decades of transformation, and to commemorate its 45th birthday, One Faber Group has released a year-long line-up of electrifying activities, events, promotions and menu items to celebrate.

Debuting for the anniversary celebration is Miraculous (till Mar 2020), a nightly multimedia show based on the adventures of two mighty squirrels living in the heart-shaped Angsana tree at Arbora restaurant. Camouflaging with the luminescent projectional display on the towering trunk, the two adorable creatures wander through the seasons and can only be seen through the dazzling colours of their striped backs and tails.

The light projection show features a mesmerising kaleidoscope of colours that represent diverse energy—pink for love, gold for health, purple for wealth, orange for happiness and blue for knowledge. Happening for three sessions every night, there will be no excuse to miss the scintillating show. Seats, however, will be provided on a first-come-first-served basis and are reserved for cable car patrons, diners and Faber Licence members. But if you’ve made the journey up Faber Peak anyway, why not have dinner or a drink at Arbora?

Visitors can also explore the vicinity and the history of the attraction by embarking on a self-guided tour (till Jun 30) across five cable car stations through the Mount Faber line and the 2015-opened Sentosa line that shuttles guests within Sentosa island. Discover the five checkpoints highlighted in the Explorer Passport that’s provided with every Cable Car Sky Pass purchased and collect ink stamps with every accomplished task in the booklet. Additionally, F&B and retail vouchers are included in each passport.

Rides at night are no longer in the pitch dark, as a light up installation has been introduced on the facade of Faber Peak, making for a captivating photo op along with the vintage cable car cabins on special display at the Mount Faber Cable Car Station. While you’re there, be sure to check out the display panels that tell you more about the 45 years behind the iconic cabins.

Then end the day with craft beer that’s exclusively made for the occasion, featuring flavours incorporating the nature theme of the projection show. Two custom craft beers are available at Arbora—a Session IPA and a Summer Brew, both from Trouble Brewing, that are available for $12 a bottle or $20 for a pair, with pastel labels specially designed for the celebrations. For a light bite, pick up a slice of the exclusive Mighty Rainbow Cake ($10). Unlike your usual rainbow cakes, the layers here correspond to the significant themes of the show and are actually flavoured according to their colours.

Miraculous runs from Mar 2019-Mar 2020, 7.30pm, 8.30pm and 9pm at Arbora, Faber Peak Singapore, 109 Mount Faber Rd.
