Catch Rita Ora, Pooja Nansi and other leading ladies at Apple Orchard Road this March

Britpop singer Rita Ora is coming to town—but not for a solo concert anywhere near the Indoor Stadium. Instead, the platinum-selling singer-songwriter will be appearing at Apple Orchard Road as part of the brand’s latest set of programmes for International Women’s Day. This Mar 8-31, the all-white store turns into a hub of female-fueled inspiration, as Apple celebrates women in Singapore across all possible creative fields.

Bringing together high achievers from the fields of art, music, photography, design, and even coding, the Made by Women series comprises free talks and tech-related sessions with 10 remarkable women. The series kicks off on International Women’s Day (Mar 8) itself, with co-founder of home care app Homage, Gillian Tee, sharing on app development and entrepreneurship.

If you’ve always wanted to dig a little deeper into the art of coding, drop by on Mar 13 for a session on app hacks with The Codette Project. The female-forward non-profit initiative works to empower minority women through technology, providing them with awareness and access to the tech industry. You’ll get to learn about their origin story, plus learn tips and tricks on maximising iOS apps.

For budding photographers (or if you just want to learn how to take a better selfie), portrait photographer Kelly Fan will conduct a photo lab on how to capture “natural beauty”. Using the iPhone and Adobe Lightroom CC app, learn from the professional how best to shoot and work with natural light.

And of course, easily a highlight for many, Rita Ora will be making a guest appearance in the local lineup for an exclusive performance in-store. Bop to her latest chart-toppers, then stay for a Q&A where she’ll share her creative process, and how she turns her inspiration into global hits. And yes, registration for the session is absolutely free.

Later in the month, you can also expect sessions with poet-performer Pooja Nansi, singer-songwriter Inch Chua, and founder of Fitsphere Liv Lo. It’s set to be an inspiring month, so settle in for a wild ride as we girls continue to run the world.

Made by Women runs from Mar 8-31 at Apple Orchard Road. Registration is free and can be done here.
