Not one to be outdone by itself, the folks behind the annual Christmas Wonderland over at Gardens by the Bay is dousing us with even more festive magic this year-end, when they return with their sixth edition.
Happening Nov 29-Dec 26 is Christmas Wonderland 2019, and for the very first time, a Christmas Parade will take place to liven things up even more. From Fridays to Sundays and from Dec 24-25, look out for three magnificent floats roving around with Santa, his elves, santarinas and other folks from the North Pole prancing on them. While on other days, it’ll be Santa riding on his sleigh float, looking out for those who are naughty or nice.
Be dazzled as the giant luminaire light sculptures deck the halls once again, including Asia’s tallest luminarie Christmas tree, plus a 21m-tall Spalliera as the main feature. Meanwhile, an upgraded Santa’s Workshop fun house returns, where you get to walk through a forest and a giant snow globe before encountering Santa and his elves hard at work.
The photo-worthy installations don’t end there. Stroll down the 50m-long Walk of Peace tunnel for a surreal, illuminated experience, or try and lure your SO to the Mistletoe Alley, an enchanting lane that makes for the perfect backdrop for you romantics at heart. The faux snow Blizzard Time is back too of course; just don’t leave your mouths open when it happens.
Over at the Meadow Theatre, even more ticketed performances (from $6) will take to the stage this year, where circus acts, illusionists and feel-good theatrical plays await.
Still, a favourite of ours is the simple, but utterly charming Christmas Village. 24 European-style wooden huts will be set up, where vendors will be offering handicrafts, food and drink, all as you soak in the festive vibes. Then have a go at the many carnival games and rides, and let the little things bring you an abundance of joy this holiday season.
Christmas Wonderland 2019 takes place Nov 29-Dec 26 at Gardens by the Bay. Tickets from $6 for admission.
