It sure seems hard to keep The Promontory@Marina Bay empty. Now that the Prudential Marina Bay Carnival is over, the scenic space along the Bayfront is being taken up once more—by the DBS Marina Regatta, returning for its seventh edition. This year, the annual event will span not one but two weekends, on May 26-27 and Jun 2-3. 2018 also marks DBS’ golden jubilee, so you can expect that the highlights have gotten much bigger and better.
Headlining the event is Battle Bay Extreme, a challenging obstacle course touted as the largest land and water obstacle course in Southeast Asia. Jointly organized with sports brand Under Armour, the course was designed for participants to push their limits—both physical and mental. Choose from three levels: Initiate (beginner), Intense (intermediate) and Insane (advanced), and come prepared; DBS is even holding a series of complimentary pre-regatta fitness classes from Apr 17 to get eager participants in shape. Best of all, registration for Battle Bay Extreme starts from just $8.
The obstacle course isn’t just about fun and games. DBS is donating all registration fees from Battle Bay Extreme to Thye Hua Kwan Moral Society to support their programs for Active Aging seniors. In addition, Olympic darling Joseph Schooling will be on-site to lead a celebrity challenge to raise funds for charity.
And even if you aren’t a fan of climbing, jumping and general activeness, there’s still much to do at the regatta. Swing by to catch the annual dragon boating competition, where local and regional teams compete for cash prizes; or check out the DBS Creators’ Market, complete with a communal kitchen, wellness activities, and a bazaar of healthy drinks and snacks. A little way down too is the infamous Artbox, held in conjunction with the regatta and featuring over 400 stalls of fun.
Fight it all you want, but looks like you’ll be heading back to Marina Bay again this May.
DBS Marina Regatta 2018 happens from May 26-27 to Jun 2-3 at The Promontory@Marina Bay. More information here.
