No plans this weekend? Then take a trip to Gardens by the Bay, as the ever-popular nature park has just unveiled its new orchid display, jazzing up everyone’s favourite Cloud Forest conservatory.
Named Orchid Haven, the sparkling new space that was launched last Friday (Jul 30) will now host Cloud Forest’s changing orchid displays as well as permanent orchid exhibits, with more than 1,000 orchids on show at any one time.
The first time that a major area has been revamped in Cloud Forest since 2017, the exhibition space aims to showcase more orchids, given its long history in Singapore.
Now, visit its very first showcase, Flight of the Moth Orchid, as it pays tribute to the Phalaenopsis orchid—a diverse genus whose floral form resembles that of a moth in flight. In this display, more than 800 Phalaenopsis orchids of 17 taxa are seen in a breathtaking “waterfall” of cascading blooms.
Opened in time for the upcoming National Day weekend, the Gardens by the Bay display is definitely an enticing excuse to head to the famed garden destination again.
