What if we told you that caring for the environment and cleaning up polluted spaces is a trait others find date-worthy? Apparently, that’s what local dating agency GaiGai has found out and, in partnership with social enterprise Green Nudge, they’re throwing Singapore’s first-ever coastal cleanup dating event.
Happening on Sep 28 is Green Up!, a singles event where participants first put in the work by clearing coastal debris and learning about marine conservation at Yishun Dam—people do break the ice better through shared hardship after all. Once done, be treated to a sunset picnic by the scenic coastline (which you just cleaned up), where several speed dating rounds will then also commence.
Everything you need to take part in this first-of-its-kind event will be provided, including cleaning equipment, picnic essentials (reusable crockery only), light meal and round trip transportation between Yishun Dam and Dhoby Ghaut MRT.
Even if you didn’t meet a potential date after this, hey, you’ve at least done some good for our environment and met some like-minded individuals at the same time. It can only be a win-win situation.
