It seems like many colors (especially orange) all want to be “the new black”; and hey, why not green too, in symbolising the idea of sustainable consumption.
Come Nov 3-4, join in The Conscious Festival by Green is the New Black (GITNB) in their quest for a sustainable world as they hold a carbon neutral and zero waste event held at Parkroyal on Pickering. As part of this fourth edition, through art, booths and various festivities, this year’s festival hopes to bring to the fore concerns about global warming, the benefits of being plastic-free and the how consuming more local produce can help the environment.
The event is packed with a market, interactive art installations, live music and awe-inspiring talks. Over 70 environmentally-friendly beauty, food, art and fashion brands will come together, offering a dizzying array of choice produce, including pure essential oils, plant-based vegan burgers, handmade artisanal chocolate bars, ethical swimwear sourced from Latin America, vegan oat milk, locally crafted skincare products that are sans chemicals, and so much more.
Once you’re done being the conscious consumer, swing by to support homegrown music talents and live bands that will be performing at the event or check out the Green Warriors exhibition, that will feature shots of veritable eco-influencers. If all that festivities have gotten you raring to be a full-fledged card-carrying member of the live-consciously camp, you can drop by the talks and workshops-about urban farming and wellness, an apt, much-needed lineup in the local context. This is one event that will get you thinking and not just mindlessly shop.
The Conscious Festival 2018 takes place Nov 3-4 at Parkroyal on Pickering. Entry to the market is free although an optional donation can be made. Tickets to talks and more information available here.
