New music festival Hydeout will be a multi-genre experiential playground

We may be used to big names coming to our shores, but with a debut lineup that includes the likes of A$AP Rocky, Gucci Mane, Rita Ora, Sam Feldt and more, new music festival Hydeout definitely seeks to impress in that department nonetheless.

There will be multiple stages, and is happening in 2020 over two weekends, from April 10-11 and 17-18 at The Meadow at Gardens by the Bay. Despite the impactful acts, its organisers know that a strong lineup is still only part of the allure—especially given how spoilt for choice we are.

Chan Wee Teck, executive producer of Hydeout speaking at Marquee Singapore

At the official launch party of Hydeout, held at Marquee Singapore on Nov 8, its executive producer Chan Wee Teck brought up the likes of Coachella as an inspiration. It will also be multi-genre, not just focusing solely on one music category. Chan points out how people’s listening habits are varied and dynamic, and that Hydeout is attuned to that.

“We believe in the universality of music to bring people together and Hydeout fills a gap in this part of the world where people are looking for bigger yet more inclusive music events.”

Chan also says that music streaming data is being leveraged to inform them on the acts to bring in—it has to be in line with people’s actual playlists.

Other acts on the roster so far include DJ Snake, San Holo and Singapore’s very own Myrne, who also gave launch event attendees a taste of what’s to come at Hydeout. If the preview was anything to go by, expect the festival grounds to be one littered with interactive installations. For now, keep tabs on their socials for further lineup updates.

Hydeout 2020 takes place Apr 10-11 and Apr 17-18, 2020, 4.30-11.30pm at The Meadow at Gardens by the Bay. Tickets from $138 for a single day pass.
