Margaret Cho left us in stitches when she came to perform in 2016, and kept to her promise of not censoring herself. As expected, the show did so well, the organizers had to add a matinee show.
She shocked and awed with her colorful language, her views on 377A, the song “China Wine” and some infamous words for the vocally anti-gay leaders in Singapore. For what it’s worth, the audience really took to the five-time Grammy and Emmy nominated comedian; and how couldn’t anyone, especially when she was so well versed in our affairs, on top of her own routine? And now, she’ll be returning to the Kallang Theatre on May 15 for her swanky new creation, “Fresh Off The Bloat”.
We’re not going to expect anything less from her new show, which she describes as her “sickest show to date”. This hero for the LGBTQI community and pioneer amongst women in comedy will continue to take on everything she’s mad about at the moment, ranging anywhere from addiction, abuse, activism, “Asianness”, sex-positivity to “the politics of disgust and what is disgusting about politics”. She added in a press statement: “My new show is all about being fresh off drugs and drinking and suicide and coming back to life.”
