We’re loving all these powerhouses making their way to Singapore. First there’s Celine Dion, then there’s Elton John, and now we’re getting the inimitable Mariah Carey. After four years, she’s coming back for a special one-night concert on Nov 3 at The Star Theatre.
Everyone knows about her five-octave vocal range, and her usage of the whistle register. Still, in recent years, she’s been heavily criticized about her bad live performances and her “waning” singing capabilities. But she squashed all that once and for all and redeemed herself at the previous Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest show, singing “Vision of Love” and “Hero” while donned in a fabulous glittery gown and a fur coat.
A diva she might be, but she’s still human. Recently, the singer-songwriter came out and revealed in an interview that she’s been struggling with bipolar II disorder for more than 17 years. She added that she’s currently in therapy and on medication to treat her disorder, and feels “inspired” and “uplifted” by everyone’s support.
Mariah Carey is undoubtedly the best-selling female artist of all time, having sold more than 200 million albums to date and 18 Billboard Hot 100 #1 singles (17 of which were written by her)—that’s more than any solo artist in history. We’re pretty sure she has a dedicated room just for her accolades, seeing the numerous awards she’s raked up throughout her career, which includes multiple Grammy Awards, 21 American Music Awards, Billboard’s “Artist of the Decade” Award, just to name a few.
Tickets are priced from $88-348 via Apac Tix, and will be available on Apr 25-26, 10am-10:59pm, for Live Nation Members, and Apr 27, 10am to the general public.
