Display your love for nasi lemak at this bizarre run that’s taking place in February

We’ve definitely seen our fair share of quirky and bizarre races, but here’s a new Nasi Lemak Run that’s happening on Feb 16 which we can safely say we did not see coming.

In all seriousness, the Nasi Lemak Run will be held at MacRitchie Reservoir, from 7:30am onwards. There’ll be a total of three races, with the Normal Nasi Lemak (4km) and Upsized Nasi Lemak (8km) being options for adults.

We’re guessing that if you’re running, it will be for your love of the dish. And you’ll get to enjoy a packet of halal-certified nasi lemak at the end of the marathon, in addition to all your other entitlements as a race participant. We’re talking short-sleeved shirts with nasi lemak depictions emblazoned on the back, as well as coconut rice and fried chicken-related finisher medals. You’ll get to enjoy every Singaporean’s favourite beverage too, as Milo will be served at the event, among other drinks.

And not only is everyone invited to register as a runner, the organisers are also calling for event volunteers on Facebook. So if you don’t feel like shelling out $54-$58 for the run, try throwing your hat into the ring as a volunteer. Apart from the special medal, you’ll still get to receive all other entitlements.

Hopefully Nasi Lemak Run will release a little more information on their funky Blogger site as the fun run draws closer; we’re pretty curious as to whether or not there’ll be nasi lemak-themed mascots or even exhibits of sorts to accompany runners to the finish line. Either way, it already seems like an interesting contest to partake in.
