450 different labels will be up for tasting at this year’s Sake Festival Singapore

If you’re an ardent sake lover who’s beginning to feel that your alcohol of choice has been neglected in the local beverage scene of late—fret not. The annual Sake Festival Singapore is back on Jun 23 in its sixth edition, with more than 450 exclusive labels on show to get you gloriously tipsy.

Organized by Robertson Walk-located sake bar and liquor shop Orihara Shoten, the festival will be showcasing 42 breweries from all over Japan. Taste limited edition sakes ranging from premium Dassai (produced in the Yamaguchi Prefecture) and Tatenokawa, to more artisanal labels such as Yukinobousha, Bijoufu and Gasanryu. It’s all in line with the store’s mission to spotlight regional, artisanal Japanese sake produced by small-town breweries. If you need help sorting through the staggering variety, brew masters and brewery owners (from Toji Masters and Sake Professionals) will be present to help with your sake appreciation and understanding.

For greater variety, your ticket to the festival grants you access to tasting quality umeshu, shochu, fruit liqueurs and other drinks—plus purchase tableware and homeware from Japan, if you so wish. Orihara has specially commissioned a top minoyaki craftsman (a centuries-old craft of Japanese pottery produced in Mino Province in the Gifu Prefecture) to make 1000 pieces of limited edition, festival sake tasting cups. Be one of the first 1000 visitors to the festival and you might just walk away with one; perfect to sip your newly purchased premium sake in.

Sake Festival Singapore 2018 is happening Jun 23, 1-6pm, at Suntec City Convention Hall, Summit Hall 1. Tickets are $40 and available here.
