Women have come a long way in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). Championing female figures in STEM is the annual event, DiscovHER 2021: Inspiring the NeXXt Generation, happening over two weekends on Jan 29-31 and Feb 5-7.
As it returns for its fourth edition this year, the event has also been rebranded to tie in with the United Nations-declared International Day of Women and Girls in Science on Feb 11.
Look forward to a host of on-site and online activities, designed to inspire young learners to retrace the discovery journey of female innovators and set them on their own course of STEM exploration.
DiscovHER 2020
At the Science Centre, visitors aged 10 and above (boys can join too) will discover how rockets work, find out how to brew fizzy beverages rich in probiotics that can boost our gut health, and explore how encryption and tokenization work through fun activities like breaking morse code and ciphers. Most are free, with the exception of the Micro-Casso activity where participants get to paint their own petri dish (separate charges apply).

In My STEM Journey, speakers Dr Tara Huber, Kavya Kanchana and Natalie Turner will share their experiences in their respective industries, and offer useful insights to students and professionals looking to start or switch to a career in STEM.
There will also be an hour-long panel discussion and question-and-answer segment with like-minded women in STEM, where they will discuss the importance of uplifting female participation and leadership in the industry, and hopefully spark conversations on levelling the playing field for women.
